For three Wednesday nights, February 20, 27 and March 12 April 2, Michael will be leading a study examining the ways the Bible and Christians have understood how Jesus saves. Special attention will be paid to the various “theories of atonement” that Christians have used to explain the saving work of Jesus. We encourage all to attend the study to gain a better appreciation for our salvation through Christ as we approach Holy Week.
Books used as resources for this study include:

Last Saturday, our youth and median adults hosted a Valentine’s Dinner for thirty of our senior adults. “Chef” Jordan Whiley (pictured in the black shirt raising a spatula) concocted a wonderful meal of walnut crusted chicken, steamed asparagus, and herbed mashed potatoes. Our youth and median adults were servers, and three of our youth presented a brief musical program.
We love our senior adults, and this was one way that we could show our love and appreciation!

Lent is a forty-day period in our church calendar that is set aside for reflection and repentance. Lent originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days.
The Farmville Area Ministerial Association invites you to attend their Wednesday Lenten Services at 12 noon followed by a free soup lunch at 12:30 p.m. The following is a schedule of churches hosting these services and the speakers:
On Friday, March 21, Farmville Baptist will host a community-wide Good Friday Service at noon. A soup lunch will be served after the service.
During the month of February, Farmville Baptist will be leading special Sunday morning worship services from 10 am to 10:30 am at Holly Manor, the nursing facility of The Woodland. Last Sunday, several adults and children of the church spent time with the residents at Holly Manor singing hymns, reading Scripture, and hearing a devotion led by Ken Copeland. Anyone who would like to join in this ministry for the remaining Sundays in February may contact Amanda Johnston.
