We welcome students from Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College! We’re glad that you’re here. We want to invite you to these various opportunities for worship, growth and service at Farmville Baptist.

WORSHIP
Our Sunday Worship begins at 11:00 am, and our van will pick up students in front of the Longwood library at 10:40 am.

SUNDAY SCHOOL
We have a Sunday School Class starting at 9:45 am for university students. The classroom is located on the second floor of the church, Room 308. This fall, we will be using the NOOMA DVD series produced by the Rev. Rob Bell, Teaching Pastor at Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville, Michigan. Topics that we will discuss include:

  • “Where Is God When the Storms Come?”
  • “Love or Lust?”
  • “Why Am I Here?”
  • “Why Go to Church?”
  • “Why Silence?”
  • “What Do You Want?”
  • “Why Forgive?”
  • “Following Jesus?”
  • “Scaring People into Loving God?”

Below is a preview of the first video in the series, called “Rain.”

We hope you can join us as we view the video and discuss these provocative topics! If you need a ride to Sunday School, please contact us!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT SUPPER & STUDY
On Wednesday nights (starting Sept. 5), we have a dinner starting at 5:45 pm, and it is free to university students. From 6:30 to 7:15 pm, we will have an Adult Discipleship Study, and we will also be doing the NOOMA series.

GETTING MORE INVOLVED

  • We have an Adopt-a-Student program where you are “adopted” by a church family to be your “home away from home.” Your adopted family will periodically invite you to dinner, check in, provide transportation to Walmart, answer questions, etc. If you would like to be adopted, please contact Kerby Moore, kerbymoore1 [at] earthlink [dot] net.
  • We’re planning a student-led a contemporary/blended worship service on Sunday, Oct. 28. If you’d like to participate by playing instruments, singing, doing drama and visual arts, please contact us!
  • If you like to sing, we would love for your to join our Youth Choir (rehearses on the 1st & 3rd Sunday, 5 p.m.) or our Sanctuary Choir (rehearses on Weds, 7:30 pm).
  • If you love children, we have opportunities to serve and minister to them on Sunday mornings and other times. Pictured below is a Longwood student helping out at our Children’s Easter Egg Hunt.
