Pastor’s Column in The Informer (FBC’s Newsletter) – published September 2007
After much anticipation, we are finally going to have a new Pictorial Directory made for the church! Two weeks ago, our Pictorial Directory taskforce took the time to carefully interview two portrait companies. The taskforce decided on Lifetouch to take our portraits and publish our directory. This service is provided at no charge to the church. However, Lifetouch will give you an opportunity to purchase additional portraits, but you are under no obligation to buy. But if you are looking to have a portrait made in time for Christmas, this might be a great opportunity to have it done. We are confident that Lifetouch will provide quality portraits for you and your family. I want to thank Carrie Browning, Sandy Covington, Becky Kelly and Laurie Mills for their on-going work to make our new directory a reality.
In order for our directory to be a success, we need your help! We encourage all church members and regular non-member attendees to sign up for a portrait taking session. (more…)
This past Sunday afternoon, we had over 100 people attend our annual church picnic at Brookleigh Country Club. Even though it rained earlier in the afternoon, it did not dampen the spirits of those who attended. Our kids really enjoyed the swimming pool, and our adults had a great time of conversation. Ruth Patteson and the Social Committee did a magnificent job in organizing the event. And of course, being a Baptist Church, folks brought an abundance of food! What a reminder of the abundant grace and provisions that our Lord provides us. (more…)
This past Sunday in worship, we baptized Sandy Covington and Lindsey Davis. It was inspiring to be reminded once again of how God continues to work in the lives of His people. May God continue to bless and lead Sandy and Lindsey in their journey of faith and Christian discipleship!

While deer hunting season is still several months away, “committee member” hunting season is in full force at Farmville Baptist! 
We are looking for good people to serve in our various ministries and committees, and our Nominating Committee came up with a good slate of folks to invite to serve on our various committees. This post is for those who have been approached to serve and would like a brief description of the function of each committee.

We had a fun weekend welcoming Amanda and John Johnston to Farmville Baptist. On Saturday evening, we had them over for dinner together with five other young adults. We had a great time talking about pets, hiking and camping adventures, bungee jumping and parasailing, one person’s irrational fear of heights, another person’s irrational fear of growling dogs, yet another person’s near death experiences, etc. As you can tell, we covered a lot of territory!
Sunday morning, John and Amanda met our senior adults and youth during Sunday. Amanda participated in leading worship, and then we had a reception for them in the Fellowship Hall. It was a joyful and exciting weekend for all involved.
